4th Annual Walk the Plank X Ecomoe Vacation Rentals

The great debate echoing across Walton Rocks before the horn sounded in 2026 was simple…

“WHO’S GOING LEFT?!”

At the legendary shores of Walton Rocks, pirates, past champions, and salty newcomers gathered once again to Walk The Rocks — the annual longboard showdown where only the bold survive the plank.

This year the treasure chest grew heavier than ever. Mike Hawkins of Sonic Surfboards gifted a brand-new swallowtail fit for a champion, and at the last minute Pavones Surf Camp in Costa Rica dropped anchor with a bounty of their own — one full week of bed & breakfast on the Point.

With the prizes set, the pirates began their march.

One by one, the field shrank as surfers stepped forward to Walk the Plank over the jagged waters of Walton Rocks. Round One brought wild excitement and fierce rides as competitors battled through 2–4+ foot wind-chopped seas. The ocean showed no mercy — only the toughest pirates made it through.

From the port of Stuart, the most fearless Treasure Coast pirate of them all might just be Eric Biordi — better known as P-Town. Eric showed the meaning of a true nail-biter, sneaking through Rounds 1 and 2 with a buzzer-beating wave that knocked out event veteran John “Weasel” Ferrell, age 38. The crowd roared like a ship full of rowdy deckhands.

Round Two brought a clash worthy of legend. Event winner Liam Kolkmeyer, the tireless IRON MAN Ronald Reyes, and 2024 Champion Justin Baker met in the lineup like rival captains battling for the same treasure. The surfing was incredible — but the ocean itself seemed determined to rule the seas.

In the end, Ronald Reyes and Liam Kolkmeyer stormed past the GO LEFT Champion Michel Flores in the semi-finals.

Not to be forgotten, 2025 Club Longboard Champion Fred “Flintstone” Fitz put on a show worthy of the high seas, tip-toeing to the nose like a pirate balancing on the bow. But Rory Reep, armed with sharp skills and battle-tested competition experience, proved too powerful.

When the spray settled, four pirates stood ready for the final voyage FOR THE LEFT:

But if there was one moment that stole the entire show, it belonged to a young pirate from the POLLYWOGS crew…

Waylon Hoilman.

Waylon dropped an 8.33 — the single highest score of the entire event. When the final horn sounded, he was hoisted high and chaired up the beach by Eric Biordi and surf legend Phill Magliochetti, carried like a victorious captain returning to port.

It wasn’t just a win — it was a memory carved into the sands of Walton Rocks.

For Waylon, his family, and everyone part of the Treasure Coast Board Riders movement, it was something special.

“That’s literally what it’s all about — the future is local,”
said club president Brandon Taylor.
“We’ve got to keep building the next generation… and here it is.”

The treasure didn’t stop there.

Sector 9 added to the loot chest with an incredible longboard skateboard and extra wheel set for first place. And when Sophia Pickett of Sebastian, Florida decided at the last minute to Walk the Plank, fate rewarded her courage.

Sophia — who runs Sophlow Yoga Studio — walked away with the Sector 9 prize laughing:

“I’m in my longboard era now!!! Hahaha!”

A HUGE THANK YE to Stacy Baker and Laura Stalhut for helping our crew grow the mighty Women’s Division here at Walton Rocks! These fearless pirate queens stepped up to the rail and Walked the Rocks, bringing heart, style, and a proper battle to the lineup.

We’re stoked ye joined the adventure and shared in the epic day on the high seas. And what a duel it was — both of ye putting up a brave fight against Sophia, trading waves like true seafaring competitors.

 

The Women’s Division keeps getting stronger every year, and it’s pirates like you who help the crew grow and the legend of Walk The Plank sail even further.

The Legends (45+) and Grand Legends (60+) divisions reminded everyone that age is just a number for true pirates of the sea. After their battles, many celebrated the old sailor’s way — raising a few Ocean Republic IPAs in honor of waves well ridden.

Prizes flowed in from across the Treasure Coast, thanks to the incredible support of:

The Sportsmanship Award, along with a Freestyle Watch, went to Larry “Legend” Olson — a true example of what it means to give back to the surf community and keep the pirate spirit alive.

From the judges and volunteers to the families cheering from the sand, the entire crew helped make Walk The PLANK at Walton Rocks one of the greatest traditions on the Treasure Coast.
